Many CSI members are product representatives serving the specifier community. One of unique opportunities BIM presents is the ability to better integrate non-traditional products in building systems. Utilizing electronic databases of information, product specifications, cost, etc. specifiers now have the opportunity to recommend the use of products that best fit the application or goal of the owner, rather than a product that they are more familiar with, but that may not fit the needs of the project. This opens the door for new and innovative product uses. I'm interested to learn what the supplier community is doing to take advantage of such an opportunity.
